EWG's Sunscreen Guide 2015

EWG's Sunscreen Guide 2015
& what I consider when purchasing sunscreen

As many of you know, I feel very strong about using non-toxic, and less chemicals in my everyday routine and in life in general!  Therefore, it's very important to me to find products that are less toxic!  One way that helps me find safe products for my family is by using a Free online database EWG!  They offer a wide range of consumer guides that help you find the safest products possible for you and your family.  You can look up cosmetics, cleaning supplies, food, ingredients and more!  I'm very grateful I have this tool in helping me make important and healthier decisions for my family!

Summer is just around the corner, so it's time for me to do my research and find the safest sunscreen for my family!  Read EWG's 2015 Guide to Sunscreens and discover which product best fits your needs and addresses your concerns!

5 things I factor in when deciding on which sunscreen to purchase:

EWG's Toxic Grade
First and foremost, I want a sunscreen that has at least an 1-2 grade!  This way I know the ingredients are the safest for my family!

Price
Second, I want a sunscreen that is affordable!  Yes I may pay more for less product, but when it comes to my family's health and safety, there is no price too big!  So a reasonable price is a must for me!

Availability
Third, I want to make sure that the sunscreen is available online or even better, at the store in my area.

Level of Protection
Fourth, I want to make sure the level of protection is enough.  If one sunscreen is only 15 proof and cost more than one that is 50 proof, then I'd get 50 proof even if that means less of a product!

Waterproof/ Sweat Proof
Lastly, is the sunscreen waterproof or sweat proof.  I don't want it to rub off just because I sweat or got into the pool!

Unfortunately, many of the safest sunscreens are not easily accessible in my area, meaning I have to order them offline.  That's okay, but it's kind of a downer when you are in an emergency situation and you cannot just go to the store and pick some up.

Most importantly, do your research and don't be afraid to spend more money on a safe, toxic-free product!  Once the market place understands we all want safe, toxic-free products, prices will eventually lower and the safe products will become more easily accessible!  Don't just settle for the cheapest!  The cheapest isn't always the best or safest.
